How to Prestige
Permanent Prestige Traits
Is it worth it?
Prestige sources: .
Reference: Every Major Trait as text
Each Operator earns one Trait Point per Dog Tag level, up to 18. Every tree has nine rows climbed from the bottom up, one pick per row at one point each, so 18 points finish two trees. Row 1 is a single starting node; rows 3, 6 and 9 offer a choice of two fixed Major Traits; the other rows offer three Minor Traits. Minors appear to be rolled at random and stay hidden until you reach them (not confirmed yet). Picks are permanent until you Prestige, which resets the points to zero.
Warfighter — Winning fights and surviving the one you lose.
- Equipment Professional (Row 3): Your Lethals and Tacticals slowly refill up to the slot's capacity.
- Combat Resistance (Row 3): Less explosive damage, and enemy tactical equipment hits you softer.
- Viper Sense (Row 6): Invisible to thermal optics and to enemy targeting AI.
- Quick Fix (Row 6): Health starts regenerating sooner after you kill a hostile or an enemy Operator.
- Possum (Row 9): Once per match, a self-revive puts you into Last Stand at full health after you die. Players are calling it broken and asking for a nerf. No change yet.
- Adaptive Restock (Row 9): Hostiles you kill drop one extra item.
Scout — Loot, intel and printer materials.
- Hostile Looter (Row 3): Hostiles drop Uncommon printer Ingredients, with a small chance of Rare ones.
- Container Looter (Row 3): Chance of an extra item from every supply container you search.
- Field Crafting (Row 6): Craft items from Common printer resources while deployed. Untested: which recipes work in a raid and what they cost.
- UAV Upgrade (Row 6): Longer UAV range and duration, and standard scans become Advanced UAV scans.
- Overwatch (Row 9): Any UAV Tower you switch on stays active for the rest of the match. Untested: whether other squads can use a tower you lit, or how they take it over. The DDoS field upgrade can seize enemy permanent towers.
- Thermal Padding (Row 9): Hidden from enemy UAVs, and Advanced UAV scans on you drop to standard.
Survivalist — Revives, consumables and staying in the match.
- Faster Revive (Row 3): Faster revives, both on teammates and on yourself.
- Consumable Duration (Row 3): Consumable effects last longer.
- Impact Smokes (Row 6): A smoke screen pops the moment you go down.
- Free Revive (Row 6): Your first Wound is cleared without using medical items.
- Numb the Pain (Row 9): Every time you are revived you get the Painkillers and Smelling Salts effects.
- Die Hard (Row 9): No bleed-out timer in Last Stand, and crawling to an exfil point calls the extraction.
Recommended builds
Solo: Scout + Warfighter
Loot bonuses on every run, plus one free death per match.
Alone, nobody can pick you up, so Possum is the only second life you get. Survivalist's best traits fire when a teammate revives you, so they do little solo. Quick Fix starts regen sooner after a kill when nobody is covering you.
Squad: Scout + Survivalist
Revives that work in the middle of a fight.
In a trio most deaths start as downs a teammate can undo. Faster Revive shortens the time the reviver stands exposed, Impact Smokes covers you the moment you drop, and Numb the Pain sends you back up already buffed.
Frontline: Warfighter + Survivalist
The hardest Operator to put down for good. Solo fighters swap Numb the Pain for Die Hard.
Combat Resistance blunts the grenades and tacticals most squad fights open with, Free Revive clears your first Wound without meds, and Possum covers the death you can't avoid. You give up Scout's loot, so this pays off only if fighting is why you play.
Prestige
Prestige resets one Operator's trait trees in exchange for a Permanent Prestige Trait that stays with that Operator for good. It costs DMZ Cash and a full set of gear, and it is per Operator: other Operators on your Active Duty roster are untouched.
- All 18 Trait Points earned: the Operator's Dog Tag at Onyx III. You do not have to spend them first.
- The Operator on Active Duty and cleared to deploy. An Operator who is MIA or awaiting rescue cannot Prestige: rescue them first.
- The gear in that Operator's loadout or backpack. Items in your Stash do not count.
- The cash in your bank.
- Prestige 1: 2 Rare or better, 3 attachment slots each; Rare plate carrier and Rare backpack; 4 Rare 3D Printer ingredients; $200,000
- Prestige 2: 2 Rare or better, 4 attachment slots each; Epic plate carrier and Epic backpack; 4 Epic 3D Printer ingredients; $300,000
- Prestige 3 and every one after: 2 Rare or better, 4 attachment slots each; Legendary plate carrier and Legendary backpack; 4 Legendary 3D Printer ingredients; $500,000
- Level the Operator to Onyx III and exfil, so they are back on Active Duty.
- Load the two weapons, the plate carrier and the backpack, and put the four ingredients in the backpack. Move everything else to your Stash.
- At the FOB Operators station, choose Manage, open Traits and go to the Prestige tab.
- Check the three requirement rows (Trait Points, gear, cash) are all met.
- Confirm. The game warns that everything left on the Operator will be consumed.
- Every trait you picked and all tree progress, plus any unspent points
- The required gear and the cash
- Anything else left in the loadout or backpack, secure slots included
- Your DMZ level, account level and weapon progress
- Your Stash and every other Operator
- Permanent Prestige Traits already earned, even through skin changes, slot moves or dismissal
- One Permanent Prestige Trait, rolled at random
- A fresh 18 points to spend on a different pair of trees
- Extra rewards such as calling cards for Prestiging several Operators (not yet listed in full)
Each Operator holds up to three Permanent Prestige Traits. The first three Prestiges each roll one at random; you do not choose. From the fourth Prestige on, every Prestige rolls a trait you do not have yet, and you can swap it for one of your three or turn it down. Prestige itself has no cap.
- Viper Sense Pro: Hidden from thermal optics and AI targeting, and warned when an enemy aims at you.
- Quick Fix Pro: Health starts regenerating right after you kill a hostile or an enemy Operator.
- Possum Pro: Once-per-match self-revive into Last Stand, and no tourniquet health penalty.
- Adaptive Restock Pro: Hostiles you kill drop extra items of higher rarity.
- Field Crafting Pro: Craft from Common printer resources while deployed at half the resource cost.
- UAV Upgrade Pro: Longer UAV range and duration, Advanced UAV scans and a bigger minimap.
- Overwatch Pro: UAV Towers you switch on never expire, with more range.
- Thermal Padding Pro: Vehicles you ride in are also hidden from UAVs.
- Impact Smokes Pro: The smoke you drop when downed is bigger and lasts longer.
- Free Revive Pro: Your first Wound repairs itself, and you can use a tourniquet while Wounded.
- Numb the Pain Pro: Longer Painkiller and Smelling Salts effects every time you are revived.
- Die Hard Pro: Reaching an exfil in Last Stand calls it automatically, with no bleed-out timer and faster movement.
- Prestige the Operator you play every day. The trait never moves to another Operator.
- Keep a second Operator geared on Active Duty, so you can keep running hard content while the Prestiged one levels back up.
- Do not Prestige mid-Order with a build that works, or if the cost would leave you nearly broke: an MIA rescue gets more expensive the more traits the Operator has.
- Stage the gear in the backpack before your last exfil, so you do not need an extra run to bring it home.
- The roll is random, so a Prestige can land a trait you would never pick. From the fourth Prestige on you can at least refuse it.
